Mortimer’s Workshop is an artisan wood craft shop, with a vision to stand against mass market furniture; by championing a sustainable approach for luxury woodcraft. They needed a re-brand that allowed them to reposition themselves within their market.

Previously known as ‘Oak & Brothers’, and a couple years old now the founder decided that he wanted to push the brand into new markets, gaining clients within the hospitality sector especially. We delved deeply into the inspiration behind the company and used this to develop the core brand idea - Living with nature.

To gain entry into new markets, it was vital that the new brand identity reflected the high quality goods coming out of the workshop. While simultaneously withholding the brands ‘down to earth’ tone of voice, heritage and their focus on sustainability.

The mark would always be printed on to the wood with a branding iron, which meant the mark would always take a back seat on products. This presented an opportunity to create a mark that would allow consumers to interact with the brand through touch, allowing consumers to be reminded of the presence of nature in their hands.

Mortimer’s rebrand has been a hit. Their products have been featured on a BBC cooking programme in Ireland, listed in the Daily Telegraphs ‘Best of British’ and now can be found in a restaurant owned by a ‘Michalin Star Chef’. Now that's luxury.
